We would like to introduce ourselves as a new resource for neighborhood schools. The Last Word is a bookstore that carries first-rate secondhand books, from picture books to chapter books, early readers to classics. We also have a section for elementary through high school textbooks and teacher materials.
We offer trade credit and/or cash for items brought to our store, and any trade credit that is donated to your school can be used to add to your classroom or library book collection. It's free and easy to join and gives families and friends of the students a way to help their school and clean out unused items from their homes.
When you want to open an account, a contact for the school (usually the librarian) needs to come by the store and start a trade credit page. When someone trades in books (movies, music, and audiobooks, too), they just let us know that they want their trade credit donated to a particular school. We keep a record of the donations, and the school contact can come in anytime and use their trade credit. A teacher can set up a separate account for a classroom library.
A good way to get the word out is to let students and parents know about the trade credit program through your school newsletter. It also comes in handy to place a donation box in a convenient place for parents who cannot make it to our store and want to donate. In addition, it provides a way for students to help their school by making their own donations. Book drives can put a lot a credit into your account quickly. We buy items Tuesday through Sunday. No appointment is necessary. Our store hours are Monday-Thursday 10AM-9PM, Friday-Saturday 10AM-10PM, and Sunday 12PM-6PM. We stop taking orders one half hour before the store closes. If you would like to learn more about this program or about our store, please contact:
